Yeah so this is what NxLogon shows - It is now working, originally it was showing a different user on the welcome page to the current sign-in user but it somehow resolved itself.

So in regards to the policy, it shows the applied policy is "Standard" which is correct however it doesn't block anything like it should.

Did you block something in the policy? Then the best method to verify it would be sending some DNS requests from the user PC using Nslookup. And then you can see the result in 'Logging > Request'. It flushes the log data in momery once in a minute.

When running the startup.bat I am seeing a DB error, I checked the nxfilter.log but just says the same as below

Did you try to update it? If there's any .trace.db file in /nxfilter/db send it to me at support@nxfilter.org
