  • how do I know when my Jahaslist is expired?

I have had it configured and not needed to manage the system in a while. There should be some kind of notification that the Jahaslist is due for renewal. Its a little frustrating for me not knowing...

You need to set your alert email on 'Config > Alert'. You get all the notification emails about license and system events to that email address.

No. It's different I guess. 'Invalid license' means that it can't verify your license serial. It's mostly from your firewall rules. You need to open outgoing TCP/80 and UDP/123 for your NxFilter server.

To see if it's expired, go to 'Category > System'. There's your license info including the expiration date.

I just checked my firewall (cisco ASA) and I am allowing both tcp 80 and udp 123 but it is still complaining. But I can now see that my license has expired. in order to upgrade, I need the old license key, where do I find it?

You have it inside /nxfilter/conf/license.lic file. If you still get that 'Invalid license' message, try to restart it. Though, you may get another message like 'License expired'.

Ok so I renewed 100 users for 3 years AND applied the license with a service restart. I set the alerts back on and I am still getting the invalid license.

I dont know if I need to start another thread but I also need to migrate this to a different server. will it be as simple as installing the same version on the other server and just copy the previous install folder to the new server?

The system does see the new license, it is the Alerts that are telling me the invalid license..

Try this if it's on Linux.

                  telnet nxfilter.org 80

Show me your output. And see what you get in /nxfilter/log/nxfilter.log file. There should be some log message for your Invalid License error.

For migration, you just need to copy /nxfilter/db directory into new one. Replacing /nxfilter/db directory would be easier. When you zip and copy the directory, you need to stop both servers. If you don't need traffic data, you can download a config backup from 'Config > Backup' and extract it into /nxfilter/db of the new system.

I am on windows but I did try to telnet on port 80 and I at least connected.

I think there was a delayed reaction because I have the Alerts set to every 5 minutes but I am not getting any more so maybe we are good now...

Anyway thanks for the support, I appreciate it.
