Cloudlist Automatic (Dynamic) Classification
Hi, we are subscribed to Cloudlist and it will perform automatic (dynamic) classification, see attached image. However, can this be disabled? There is an option for Jahaslist to disable Dynamic Classification, but I don't see an option for that for Cloudlist. The reason why I ask is that we have seen too often that a malicious website was classified incorrectly, therefore allowing the user to access the malicious website.

Cloudlist updates itself by dynamic classification only. If you disable it, there will be no update. That's why there's no such option.

Are you telling me that Cloudlist relies solely on community based dynamic classification? I am sure they have their own mechanism to crawl and classify as well, not? It would be very nice to have the option to not classify automatically, so we can manually decide to classify it. I wouldn't mind if the manual classification would be sent to Cloudlist.

No. There's no community based classification for them. We also don't do that. Once we tried that. We found all kinds of rubbish. People like you would classify websites as they should be because you know that it's communal. You don't want to ruin other people's filtering policies. But there are people classifying everything into Ads or Porn. So, relying on community is a bit dangerous.
For Cloudlist, even if we know that it's working on auto-classification for the current site, when we query again, it will be classified into some category. We can't stop it as their classifier is on cloud. For Jahaslist, its classifier is integrated into NxFilter and you can on/off it. It's only for you.
Try the new mapping file. If it can't solve your problem then we will see if there's another solution.Comment

I had mentioned in an email if it would be possible for Cloudlist to not automatically classify a website when a Password field is detected (this can easily be detected when scanning through the HTML source). If this feature can be added it would significantly increase the protection of NxFilter. In our case we block unclassified domains, so domains with a password field will, with this feature enabled, stay unclassified (and therefore blocked) until we manually classify them. Adding such a feature will significantly reduce the chance of Cloudlist incorrectly classifying a malicious site, like a fake "Microsoft" site asking for credentials.Comment

Can you get me some examples? I think currently Login Page only websites are mapped to Misc. We can separate it as Login Page or leave it Unclassified. But don't know which is better. If you get me the site examples, that'd be helpful.
So, you want them to be unclassified? Things changed from old days. It might be better.Comment

Unfortunately I have no examples, the latest examples I had, have already been taken down by now. However, I am pretty sure you are correct and that they currently get classified as Misc. I prefer those Login only sites to stay unclassified and we will classify them manually. This will really increase the protection NxFilter provides. Thanks!Comment
