  • CxForward v1.0.6

With the coming CxForward v1.0.6, does this mean that there is no need anymore to add the server IP address of NxFilter in CxForward?

We removed CxForward from all our users, because it was for us not doable and unreliable to add the server IP address via a (blank) start page and without the server IP address it messed up the JavaScript get requests data, which we use for several internal reports (CxForward either caused it to double the data or showed a mix of old and new). However, it would be very nice to have it back again, because currently the block page is not shown anymore due to HTTPS being used pretty much everywhere now, but we used that block page for our employees to sent IT an unblock request.

If CxForward still gives problems with v1.0.6, the upcoming Edge update to temporarily Pause extensions on certain websites may be a way to solve our CxForward / JavaScript get request problem: https://www.ghacks.net/2022/04/12/mi...sions-on-sites

It will find its server as before. It works by our testing so far.

or start page method, it doesn't need to be a blank start page. Any webpage having that meta tag will be working. You already have a webserver that is NxFilter's webserver. You could use its login-page as the start page having the meta tag.

And speaking of Unblock Request, we will add Temporary Whitelist feature. You could have a temporary whitelist for 1 or several hours. It can be user or group specific or global whitelist rule.

Thank you! It's great news that CxForward will find the server automatically again as before 👍

The start page just doesn't work in our environment, because we don't force start pages on our users. We have a set of standard startup pages for new installations, but those can be changed by the users if they want to, and if they do (and many of them do), CxForward looses that IP Server information.

The temporary whitelist will be a great feature as well, very helpful for especially those one-time newsletters, or subscriptions, or un-subscriptions 👍

For startup page, if you don't change your server IP, just one time loading would be enough. Once it gets the server IP from the meta tag, it keeps it into Chrome data storage. Anyway, try that auto-discovery when it gets updated to v1.0.6.

Ah, I didn't realize the meta tag was just a one-time thing and CxForward remembers after. We have updated NxFilter to v4.6.0.9, although I see that you have fixed a bug with v4.6.1.1, I will have to update again tonight, so I will keep an eye on the Microsoft Store for CxForward v1.0.6 to be available. 👍

You may need to update your server one more time. This new feature requires to access our server with SSL certificate. That means that it involves DNS queries from CxForward and it will increase your request count by a bit and it's like we are stealing your license request count. We need to bypass it. Will be done in next week anyway.

Maybe we can solve the problem from our server side. We will try that first.

I guess we solve the problem on our server side. v4.6.1.1 would be OK.

Thank you for the update! I will update our server tonight and test CxForward tomorrow - I see it has been updated to Version 1.0.6 now 👍

Is it working for you? We will add more feature on CxForward for this problem, https://nxfilter.org/forum/tech-supp...hority_invalid

If there's any problem with the current one, tell me so that we can fix it with v1.0.7.

I haven't had the chance to test it yet, hopefully today. However, we don't use the login page for users, we set the NxFilter DNS server by GPO, and have users connect "anonymously".

I have tested it now and it still does something funny with the drop-down menu of our reports, showing the previous selection instead of the current - it didn't double-up on our data this time though. However, something more funny that happens is that when I visit this forum, it changes the CxForward Server IP to "https:nxfilter.orgforumtech-support833-cxforward-v1-0-6" disabling the forward function since it is the incorrect server.

Yeah, I saw that. But that's not the server IP we added. It's from Edge. It should be an IP address if you want to save it there. When we cleared it out and saved it, it worked fine. But since I see that weird address problem again maybe there's something wrong. We will look into it.

Anyway, try to clear it out and save it. Then you don't have any server IP. See if it works without any server IP.

You need to see this kind of log from server worker console,

                              INFO [2022/04/28 00:39:44] set_block_ip, g_block_ip = 192.168.0.101
