  • External list against ads, is it possible?

Would it be possible to use an external ad blocker list on the server where NX is installed to use the functionality below:

    https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts?tab=readme-ov-file

If this is not necessary, it is suggested that future versions of NX develop a function that allows the creation of a custom, local category that can be imported with a list like this:

    Best,

There's 'Classifier > Blocklist'. With your list, I can merge 40518 domains into the Jahaslist's Ads category. However, these lists from the internet include all kinds of domains into one category. Many false positives are there. Since the list is big, you have to bypass the DNS checking when you add the URL.

That's wonderful. Does this mean that this function allows merging public lists with existing categories, further increasing the efficiency of filtering? Do you simply add the lists to this function and then select the category of the blocking policy you want to restrict?

While we're on the topic, is there any magic function/button to update Jahaslist's with the new categories or sorted URLs? I have a purchased license.

Yeah, you can merge those public lists to the Jahaslist's existing categories.

What do you mean by 'magic function/button to update Jahaslist's with the new categories or sorted URLs'? Jahaslist does a bulk update by itself once a day but it also has a dynamic classifier. When there's an unclassified domain, it will try to classify it by itself with the aid of a cloud based classifier.

My question was because, in the past, in version 3.4.1, I had some commands via the Linux terminal to update Jahaslist's, like the ones below (see below).

          Step 1 :
          root@nsdebian:/nxfilter/bin# cd /nxfilter/bin

          Step 2 :
          ./shutdown.sh

          Step 3 :
          ./update_sh.sh

          Step 4 :
          ./startup.sh

Does this still work in current versions? Is there a magic button via the graphical interface to update the lists, or is the process done automatically as you described above?

Those commans were for Shallalist which is a public list we supported in old days. But that was gone. We have our own and it updates automatically. You can see its change under 'Classifier > Jahaslist'. There's the update date and the version.

              I understand.

Another question: once the external list is inserted, do I need to keep clicking the update button, or will it automatically apply to the configured category as the public list is updated?

I ask this because in the same list you used in your screenshot, the entries have a different number than mine, even though it's the same loaded public list.

No. I updates by itself. The reasons for the differnce in the number is that you have a different Jahaslist from mine. It grows by dynamic classificaiton and it depends on how you use it. You probably use the website in your country but I use the websites in my country. As a result, you have a differnt Jahaslist from mine and it may includemore domains than mine from the list.

                  Another question:
Could these external lists degrade the performance of the NX Filter Server when aggregated?

I don't think you can cause any performance degrading unless you add several millions of domains.
