migration of Windows data to Docker

I am writing on this forum to ask for help.

I currently have nxfilter on a Windows server and I want to migrate it to a Synology NAS using Docker.

I have successfully installed nxfilter on Docker, but I don't understand how to migrate the data from the old to the new.

I can't access the NXFilter data/folder/file on the NAS.

What is the method, please?

You can download a backup file from 'System > Backup' and unzip it into /nxfilter/db. If it's on Docker, I guess the directory mounted to somewhere. If it's a Rob's Docker image, it's 'nxfdb' volume. So, you can unzip the file into the volume. While you do that you need to stop NxFilter first.

Hello, thank you for your answer. I've already tried to do this, but even if I force volume creation under docker, I get the impression that nxfilter chooses its own volume, and it's impossible for me to access it with DSM.
Here's my compose file:

We don't have /nxfilter/data and /nxfilter/logs. They are /nxfilter/db and /nxfilter/log. I guess you'd better use Rob's Docker image as it is at first. Once you confirm it's working then customize it.

I successfully completed the standard installation with the docker you mentioned, but I don't understand how to access the files afterwards

Try to find where the db files are. Probably, they are in /var/lib/docker/volumes/nxfdb/_data.

You can confirm by,

docker volume inspect nxfdb

If you find the directory then stop NxFilter and unzip the backup file into the directory and then restart it.

I'm trying my best, but the nxfilter files/folders are “hidden” on the Synology NAS. I don't have access to /volume/1/@docker/XXX


Here is a command I entered to first find where nxfilter is stored

it is the same with db and log

It seems like all the problems are from Synology security restrictions. Don't try to bypass them. You could end up having another problem. It's better to try another system or a VM instead.

You're right. Do you know of a very lightweight Linux OS on which I could install nxfilter without using too many resources with Virtual Machine Manager?

We only use Ubuntu server. We don't try something new or too good. Just something reliable. To us, Ubuntu server is the best.
