  • Logging timestamp

    My logging timestamps are off.

I saw that my logging time was off and it looked like greenwich Time so I used timedatectl to set my UTC offset on the server because it was wrong by the same amount. All fixed I thought until I looked at the logging again. Still off by five hours ahead of my time in the US time zone. Restarted the server, still off.

    How do I fix this?

For Screen Time, suppose you want to allow your users to use Shopping category only 2 hours a day. Then set 'Screen Time' to 120 muniutes and block Shopping on 'Screen Time Categories'. If you block multiple categories then they can use the websites in those categories for 2 hours only (approximately).

For Free Time, it's about Dual Policy setting for a user. You can set work-time policy and free-time policy for a user. And you can define 'Free Time' on 'Policy > Free Time'. To find out more, https://forum.nxfilter.org/tips-tric...ng-by-nxfilter

Your time zone settings might be the problem. https://tutorial.nxfilter.org/i-faq.php#time-zone

Fixed. Thank you. Added to my notes.

Side question. Does NXFilter respond well to IP address changes. Say for instance, I change the server IP address from 172.16.0.18 to 172.17.0.18? To be specific, if I make a template out of a ProxMox LXC container and I wanted to make a few hundred copies of this machine.

You mean the IP address of NxFilter itself? In that case, I don't think there's any problem with that. However, you need to change its Block Redirection IP to its IP.

If you install it one by one by the template rather than copying an existing NxFilter then it might be OK with Block Redirection IP as well. It sets its own IP during the installation process.
