  • Mass Import Suggestion

Hello, I hope everyone is well.
I would like to suggest an improvement for the mass import menu.
The suggestion is to have an option to assign a default password that forces the user to change it upon their next login.

Since we use it in libraries, schools, and other educational areas, we have a high turnover of people who can access the system. This would make the registration process easier.
It’s a great suggestion and would be beneficial for everyone to use.

    Thank you for your attention.

Tell me about your usage of Mass Import in detail. How do you create all the usernames? Did they exist already and you just import them through Mass Import or you create them on Excel for your organization users and import them into NxFilter? If you get me some idea of real world usage case, that'd be better.

Hello, users with fixed machines, such as regular employees, are registered via Active Directory.

For users who use their own devices, we create the users in Excel and then import them in bulk. The issue is that currently, we need to manually set a password for each account.
Since there is an option for users to change their password on their own, it would be interesting to have the possibility to assign a default password to all imported users and require them to change it upon their first login.

OK. We will try to implement it. However, you need to know that we are dealing with Web GUI not Windows GUI. So, forcing some step for users would be difficult. The best one we can do is when a user with Default Password login, we show him the password update page if he doesn't change his password yet.

          Hello, good morning.
Yes, the suggestion is that this feature should only apply on the NxFilter screen. These imported users will only be NxFilter users, not Active Directory users.
I mentioned the previous information as an example to help clarify the explanation.

Good morning, what great news! Is there a link where we can see what was included in each update?

I will test the update. I really appreciate the attention and the improvement. I hadn't noticed that the log file was next to the download button. Thank you again for your attention.
I believe that if the community were more active, everyone could suggest various situations and further improve this tool. It is, in fact, the best tool I know for DNS and access filtering.

                    Good morning!
After conducting the tests, we noticed that when access is done via mobile phones or other mobile devices, the password change screen appears briefly, as it is redirected to the browser.
On subsequent logins, it no longer prompts for the password change.

Just tested with my Android phone and its Samsung browser. It works fine. What browser do you use?

I don't think it's a browser problem. What exactly not working for you? Did you get redirected to the password change page? And did you change the password?

So, the password change screen appeared briefly, but the phone redirected to "Google," and the password change screen didn’t appear again. Not even on subsequent accesses.

Did you try other browsers on your PC or phone? It doesn't seem like a problem we can solve. It redirects your browser to its password chage page and it works on my PC and phone and iPad all. Try other ones first.
