  • Install on Ubuntu

    Hi,

I installed nxfilter on ubuntu and I have these questions:

1- what should I set for DNS settings on ubuntu?

2- in tutorial, it was said that we should set 127.0.0.1 on system . where should I set that?

3- Should I join ubuntu to my domain or not?

4- Can I set MS DNS server on my clients and add nxfilter address to "Forwarders" setting on my MS DNS server ?

    1. You can use 8.8.8.8.

    2. If you don't have 127.0.0.1. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...opback-address

    3. It's your problem. For NxFilter, you don't need it though.

    4. In that case, you lose user authentication as NxFilter can't see the IP address of your users. Just bypass your local domain to your MS DNS server.

NxFilter doesn't interfere your network speed. However, there might be some domains not resolved in your case if your pptp network needs some special or internal domains.

I have added AD dns ips on local dns setup section and checked the use local dns box , so do I need to forward zones from AD dns to nxfilter?

If it's about zone transfer, no. Just use it with local DNS settings.
