  • Configuring FreeTime...

Nubie here again.... I created a freetime policy and when i go back to the user i don't see it in the drop down for freetime... what am i missing here 🤨

One user has two policies. One is work-time policy and the other one is free-time policy. You have to create a new policy for your free-time and set it for a user or a group.

so i created a new free time policy just fine.. but when i go back to 'user' it's not in the drop down list of 'freetime'.. actually what is in the freetime drop down list are all the normal policies (no freetimes)

What do you mean by 'normal policies'? Your policies are all under 'Policy> Policy' menu. Where did you create the new policy?

Show me the capture image of your policy list on 'Policy > Policy'.

I'm running version 4.5.2.6 on a new linux PC.. you can see in the policy i have a new free time called 'SafeNightFreeTime' and when i go back to 'User' it doesn't show up in the free time list.. the free time list is showing all the policies (not free time policies)

On 'Policy > Free Time', you define your free time. You define 12 ~ 18 as a free time range. That's not what you want I guess.

Create a policy 'SafeNightFreeTime' on 'Policy > Policy' and set it as a free-time policy which gets applied for the free time range you defined or already defined at default.

I have the same confusion. Say from example of wpblencowe I can see the free time policies in the dropdown like SafeAllDay, SafeDay & SafeNight. But in the Policy->Policy of "SafeAllDay" how it's associated to which Freetime slot? It looks like there're no association between the Free time defined to which policy? I read the help of NxFilter appearing that's the global one. Then how can I set the Policy-level free time?

There's no policy level free-time. You can have user level or group level free-time policy. On user edit or group edit page, you can set 2 policies. One for work-time and the other for free-time.

If there's a user named 'john200' and then you have 2 policies named p1 and p2. On the edit page for 'john200' you set p1 as his work-time policy and p2 as his free-time policy. When it's in free-time range then he gets applied with p2 policy.

OK, thanks for your explanation and now I understand. So if I set john200's free-time policy as P1, and work-time policy as P2, at the time he uses the DNS matches the free-time range, P1 will be applied to john200's traffic; and if it's out of the free-time range (work time), the P2 will be applied on john200's traffic.

                  Thank you!
