  • Problem loading Microsoft Outlook/Hotmail webmail page - Layout scrambled

    Hi everyone,

I recently installed NxFilter on a test server from one of my clients. NxFilter is configured as a whitelist DNS filter. Every domain inserted on the exception list is working flawlessly. There is no authentication control, just a simple whitelist that blocks everything else not included. The only troublesome domains are the ones related with Outlook/Hotmail. I can access those domains and websites, however, the webpage content is not loaded correctly. No images are loaded and the webpage layout is completely messed up. Also, both user and password fields are not shown.

My client currently have some free Outlook email accounts and some GoDaddy (Office 365) accounts. Given the fact that GoDaddy Webmail also use Microsoft Office 365/Outlook technology, and the same issue happens on both domains, it seems that the issue is related to Outlook/Hotmail webmail.

Different browsers and machines were tested. None worked. Same issue happens on each one of them.

This is the list of domains I inserted on my whitelist:

    *.login.live.com
    *.outlook.live.com
    *.live.com
    *.outlook.com
    *.hotmail.com
    *.office.com
    *.outlook.office.com
    *.sso.godaddy.com
    *.godaddy.com
    *.microsoftonline.com
    *.microsoft.com
    *.account.microsoft.com
    *.login.microsoftonline.com
    *.sso.secureserver.net
    *.email.godaddy.com
    *.email17.godaddy.com
    *.mailapi17.godaddy.com

Is there anything else I should whitelist so I can make it work?

    Images attached.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you see anything blocked on 'Logging > Request' when you open the outlook page?

If you want to see the log in real time way, you can use Syslog exportation function of NxFilter and a tool like Visual Syslog.

Sorry for the late answer. Too many things to solve this last week. I checked the logs before. I haven't seen any blocked on 'Logging > request'. I will try your advice and answer you later. Thanks for the reply.

        Hi,

Finally (after months), I could resume that test server. After playing with it for a few hours and checking its logs, I could finally come up with the full domain list. Hope it can help someone with the same issue.
