  • NXfilter as DNS server & How to exclude local domains from filter

Question about nxfilter setup as local DNS server... Im using nxfilter as local DNS server after I ditch bind, because why to have 2 dns servers if Im able to work with one.

So its working fine, but my problem in few last months is Im getting constantly hammered with "to many requests for licence". I have at home few PC, notebooks, tablets, phones + few virtuals in virtualbox, so lets say around 15-20 active system which needs access to dns filter. But I have also lot of virtual servers on my home lab kvm rig and those need using nxfilter also, because it serve as DNS for local domains. So how do I exclude those kvm virtuals from using nxfilter as dns filter, but still are able to use DNS for local domains, so I can lower license request count? Thx.

On Whitelist, you can add Total Bypass domains. When you set bypass_auth, bypass_filter, bypass_logging flags, that's makes Total Bypass. They will not be counted.

Ok, I will try that, thx.

Following question...is there way to configure nxfilter to block clients/ip from using its filter? Im looking for following scenario: defined ip/subnets can use nxfilter as DNS and local domain dns but filter wil not kick in and so request will not count. I dont need to filter dns request from systems in my kvm lab, I just need functional dns for them.

No. We don't have such a function.

          Hm (((

Do you thing that its possible that you add this "bypass filter" feature in future? Lets say next month? All its need is "bypass filter" option in user definition. Is that simple .

            No. It's basically for filtering.
